Do I need to be connected to the Internet to submit my comments?
For now, yes. Ornitho only works when you have an active internet connection. This site was designed to share observations as quickly as possible. The internet offers unique opportunities to quickly collect large amounts of data from multiple observatories, without any management intervention. We simply check the plausibility of each observation, but all the management work is done automatically. For more information, see the instructions under point 3: "Register - Automatic Transmission."

Why should I report my observations?
By submitting your data, you not only keep track of your observations throughout the year, but you also help ensure the monitoring of our nesting and migratory birds in collaboration with the associations, organizations, and institutions that are or will be associated with ornitho. Furthermore, sharing your observations with other enthusiasts will undoubtedly encourage you to persevere in your fieldwork (see "Ornitho Rules").

I have several years of observations stored in my computer: can I import them?
No, we're not able to import your old data at this time. However, you can enter it directly into ornitho.

I see so many birds. Should I report them all?
Not necessarily; collaboration is at your discretion. For this reason, ornitho offers two entry options. The first is by reporting individuals using the main form. The second, recommended if you regularly observe in recognizable spots or locations, is through the complete survey form. This second form of data transmission is very effective and provides valuable information on population trends as well as distribution.
